Countering disinformation.

Has the media given you an ugly definition of the word “hacker”? Please read this article to learn about the kind of hackers we are. I tend to associate “hacker” with “artist”, but let's not get hung up on definitions.

Why this website?

This is a central place for Louisiana hackers to communicate. Mostly via the Email List and WebForum, but also via separate pages for cities with active meetings (e.g. New Orleans and Baton Rouge). If there aren't any meetings in your area, join the list and perhaps you could start one.

What are these “meetings” of which you speak?

2600 Meetings exist as a forum for all interested in technology to meet and talk about events in technology-land, learn, and teach. Meetings are open to anyone of any age or level of expertise.

You Louisiana Cats are brilliant! Did you come up with this meeting thing?

Nope. The folks behind 2600 Magazine started the meeting idea. Check out their meetings page to find meetings happening around the world.

Your site looks super-slick. Does it run on nitrous oxide or something?

Nope. It runs on your standard grade bee pollen and tungsten carbide. Read all about it in our manifesto.
